Production Control Manager

The Production Control Manager manages all aspects of the material control, production control, and logistics operations to satisfy our customer needs. This role requires daily collaboration across a variety of functional and program areas through planning, coordinating, and execution tasks, as well as fact-based influence to maintain organizational goals and objectives.  The individual in this role will need to quickly develop credibility and influence while leveraging strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate the ability to be a self-starter, data-driven decision-maker, and capable of achieving organizational and program objectives in a demanding environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work with the plant manager and department heads to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
  • Provide status of standard work performance, work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, materials, and services are provided as needed.
  • Ensure material supply to meet demands, oversee prepartion of orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements. 
  • Lead department in continuous improvement activities, preventative actions, root cause analysis, and corrective actions in support of the Quality System and effective operational execution.
  • Identify barriers and develop solutions to enable the factory to meet their production rates, taking appropriate action to ensure company goals are achieved.
  • Accomplish department and corporate goals and objectives by managing and evaluating staff and activities, identifying problems and variances, and initiating corrective action, and recommending system improvements.
  • Ensure full compliance of company policies and procedures.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
  • Ensure materials meet specifications, quality standards and are cost-efficient.
  • Ensure the consistent and adequate supply of materials necessary for production; track material shortages and provide immediate resolution.
  • Manage inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations.
  • Work with account managers to estimate non-inventoried raw materials.
  • Assisting in identifying new suppliers.
  • Support inventory checks to validate inventory accuracy.
  • Working closely with Operations Manager on raw material availability and needs.
  • Responsible for the overall production planning process of the assigned product group(s), which includes among other tasks:
    • Maintaining the Master Production Schedule (Demand planning).
    • Initiate and maintain the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system to ensure the timely release of material to support an efficient build process.
    • Planning of all production processes to meet production dates.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated material requirements planning experience; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, etc., Outlook, Access).
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system – Syteline.
  • MRP knowledge, SAP PRISM experience preferred.
  • Experience in Material and Inventory Control-type systems such as Kanban, SMI, Continuous Flow Manufacturing.
  • Experience utilizing and applying lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to analyze and negotiate.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organization levels.
  • Supports in inventory management, incl. bin location setup, Kanban setup, physical inventory, warehousing, and goods receipt (if needed)
  • Enforces cooperates with and complies with all company inventory control policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
