DAVENPORT Operator

Responsible for the overall operation of a minimum of two Davenport Model B machines. Close tolerances must be maintained relative to each other. Works from blueprints and responsible for quality. Works independently on regularly scheduled tasks, with periodic interaction with manager, supervisor, and shift lead to describe progress on special assignment. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic inspection with Calipers, Micrometers, gage pins, Optical Comparator 
  • Identify nonconformity and stop the machine when nonconformity is found 
  • Perform basic inspection with Calipers, Micrometers, gage pins, Optical Comparator
  • Enter inspection data into control plan via excel spreadsheet
  • Maintain machine throughout the shift, rake chips, keep oil levels full, etc.
  • Stop the machine and make adjustments as required to keep production running

Skills and Experience:

  • Have an understanding of shop math
  • Ability to read and interpret setup sheets and prints
  • Ability to perform a basic inspection with calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, and optical comparators.
  • Related experience on a variety of Automatic machines (ACME, Browne and Sharpe, Wickman, etc. is transferable to the Davenports, we will train the right individual.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school or equivalent (Required) 

Experience: Gaging: 1 year (Preferred)

Blueprint Reading: 1 year (Preferred)

Davenport or similar multi spindle automatic Machine: 1 year (Preferred)

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Excel primarily.

Other 

Requirements: Experience in Quality and ISO requirements and procedures a plus

Communicate effectively in English, ESL, OK.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Position spends 80% of the time on feet either walking, lifting, pulling and pushing
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
